cd plyer skipping

Have 03 Ultra. CD player works fine with store bought CD's. Made a few custom CD's on computer and they all skip. So I had a friend make one and burn it on their computer with a different blank and it skips also. Someone told me all the music you can buy on the computer comes off MP3 files and may noy be compatable with a 2003 model CD player. Head unit is the stock Harley Type.
So I tried all of these CD's in the car and they all worked Fine.
Has anyone had this type of issue with their CD player?

Not all cd players recognize burned discs. Not an engineer so I couldn't tell you why. I have also noticed certain "brands" of cd's don't always play correctly. It may have something to do with the compression ration of the MP3's.
 
Have a CD recorder in home stereo gear. Most, but not all function in my '03. I just pitch the few that don't play and record new ones.
