CBR600 v Duc 848?s

I found a dealership that offered to let me ride the 848 and said he wants me to ride the 1098 also to see which one I like. I know I don't want the 1098 but I'm not going to turn down a demo. I guess I'll go down there and ride it, I just don't know how much I'll be able to tell from a test ride.

Thanks for all the input, overall it seems like I'll be happy with it.

there is a possibility that you might hate it at first. i hated my YZF750 at first, and i used to loathe Ducatis, but then, there will be that one ride that changes everything and you fall hopelessly, desperately in love with it. trust. it will happen.

usually, the moment you get so fed up with it, you grab it by the scruff and ride the piss out of it.

.....then all will become clear, grasshopper.

there has been a great deal of discussion about this in the 848 forum. go there and do a search.

here is a couple of threads to add more fuel to the fire

I had a 03 600rr and still have a 07 600rr. I'm still getting used to riding the 848 a twin for that matter, my first that I own in 16 yrs of riding. I did mess with a suzuki TL1000 for a bit but it does not compare to the 848. At first the 848 will be a little uncomfortable with the clip-on angle and height, I got over it after a few long rides. Your going to be banging the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd gear as well. The 07 rr feels butter smooth at all rpm's(mine does anyway) the 848 does not like low revs 2-4000rpm it feels like its going to melt down, get a -1 front sprocket and it helps ALOT. The 848 has more personality and to me it's more mature. Torque is your friend!
