Cayenne pepper on tomatoe garden?

Squirrels have been stealing my tomatoes and i was wondering if the cayenne pepper trick would make my tomatoes taste weird or anything.
If anyone has done this please let me know how your experience went
 
Put the pepper onto the tomatoes, then be sure to wash them and your hands well. It won't hurt the fruit at all. If you want, you can wet the fruit first so more sticks. Works like a charm for me.
A friend used moth balls only to discover the squirrels had burried them!!!
