Heyy guys. I've been having a hard time with deciding about highschools. I know most people never has this problem, but of course, I do :| I have to decide between my town's public highschool Lincoln Way Central, which was why my parents moved to my town as it's a veryy good school It makes top 10 every year for public school of IL. Then Providence Catholic High School, our town's chatholic high school and chicago St. Ignatius catholic high school. All schools are college prep but I'll explain further-
LWC- One big reason why we moved to my town. 90% of our school(s) go here. All my friends will go there. It has horse biology with big/small animal bio. Very good school.no uniform Ilive about 10 min by car. Don't know much about it.
Providence- about 5 people in my school possibly will go there. Only 1 is going for sure. I like that they pray before every class. Im not very religious, I go to church bout 5 times a year, but it makes everyone feel close. It's kind of like a big vent that you do. They don't have horse bio but i could take summer class of it for credits. It's in my town. It's like a big family as where if you go to LWC your basically a ID number as LWC is so big. uniform you must buy from school. It's 10,000 dollars but I would apply for scholarship/ aid.I'm not poor but middle class and i'm not rich but that's alot.15/20 mins by car
Ignatius- My grandfather and his brothers and cousins went there. It's very 'known' by the city of Chicago. Nobody in my town on the southside suburbs know what it is x) A ton of history. A beautiful big school. It reminds me hogwarts as it has the peaks on the roof, big rounded windows, wood floors, brick outsides, old, good history. It snowed lightly all day in chicago when I shadowed (shadowing- v. when you follow a freshman around to see how your life would be going there) and I was like holy crap, hogwarts in december x) Uniform but you can wear a polo/ blouse from anywhere (ex hollister , A&F, anywhere as long as its presentable) same with khakis but shoes are dress shoes/ gym shoes tied. You can wear any accesories you want too same with LWC and provii. They have 5 whole school masses a year and pray once a day in homeroom. Here's the catch- it's about a hr and a half/ 45 minutes from my house. Atleast when I got up at 5:30 left at 6 got to my shadow's house at 7ish and carpool picked us up at 7:05. We got to school at 7:40. On the way home we took a bus from Ignatius to the trainstation then when 20 min to his house where my mum pickd us up. If I went there I would have to wake at 5:30 or earlier get on a train at 6:10, get to Chicago at 7:20. then take the way timmy and I did yesterday hoembut get home in my town at 4:45. Its about a hr each way. It's pretty reasonable I would say. Plus with the train time and free periods I could get my homework done. Unless I had really hard tests I could still go to the barn. Oh Iggy is about 13,000 dollars, which is a year at notre dame.
bBUTTT(!!) they give out the average of 7,700 dollars in grants. I would also apply for scholarship/aid if a grant wasn't given. The open house is Sunday so I guess I'll have more. 1.30 hrs away ish.?
I just needed to write all that out. Im just sick of dates of open houses, enterence exams, papers to write to enter, and my friends at school trying to tell me, not ask, to go to LWC. I could get a new change at catholic school, meet new friends. What do you guys think? Is there a method to my madness? As they say " Rome wasn't built in a day." Guess it won't come right away. Le Sigh.
