Because of my disability I have to use a catheter now but when ever I use one it is uncomfortable and I just wanted to know, if I can feel the catheter then why can't I feel when I have to pee? also any tips on making it more comfortable?

You may be using the wrong size catheter. See if you can use a smaller circumference.

You may not be pushing it in far enough. The inside tip should be past your urethra - if it is not in far enough it will hurt.

You may need some lubrication. It may be too dry inside ad causing it to stick and pull.

I suggest you discuss this with a nurse and ask her to problem solve it with you.

Having to pee is a message sent to your brain that you need to move the muscles that control the flow of urine from your bladder. Pain is an automatic response that you don't have to do anything about - it just happens.
