cat won't eat or drink?

my cat is 10 years old, have owned her since she was a kitten, was in previously great health. even just last week she caught a rat, and we think she may also be the killer of 3 squirrels that we have found dead in the backyard.

normally she is very active, but yesterday and today she was not herself. she would curl up in a ball and not move very much, and when picked up she would meow strangely and not fight to get down like she normally would when she was healthy. today she was a little more active, but not enough to where i think shes okay.

she hasn't drank or eaten from what i know of, and won't do anything but sniff the food or get her face close to the water when its put in front of her. for some reason my dad has been ridiculously hesitant and in denial about her having a problem, but i finally have convinced him to take her to the vet tomorrow when he gets home from work, around 1 or 2 pm.

i'm worried that she has something seriously wrong with her, but if she does i'd rather just figure it out and take care of it now rather than watch her suffer. i love this cat more than i love some of my friends, so i'm trying to be optimistic, but its just hard.

anyone have any advice?
the dead squirrels were weeks/months ago so i doubt that they are the problem, although i'm not ruling them out.
and the rat was alive (no actual skin puncturing) when she caught it, she carried it over to my dad who got the rat from her, and my dad released the rat into a field..where it ran back to our house underneath the deck. i don't think the cat got the rat again though.
