Casino Royale Question...Who is it?

I have seen the new bond film 3 times and i still cant work out something. At the end of the film where the building is falling in Venice, who is the guy, with one clear and one black lense in his glasses, Bond kills with a nail gun?

Hope someone can help clear it up :)
 
It's not Le Chiffre. I think he was was just an employee of 'The Organisation' like Mr White is. Le Chiffre would have answered to this man.
 
If it was Le Chiffre:

1. How did he survive his death (by bullet to the head) in the torture room?

2. How come it looked nothing like him?
 
No, it wasn't Le Chiffre. He was killed by the money-men when he was torturing Bond. I thought he must have been the guy who Vesper had been in contact with, when she led him to Le Chiffre at the torture place. And then she was going to give the money to him that she'd withdrawn from the bank account when she did the disappearing act.

Presumably somebody between Mr White, the Italian bloke who played Pazzi in Hannibal who Bond zapped when he was in recuperation (can't remember his name, began with M), and whoever the main baddie is who Bond is going to meet in the next film.

just got back from seeing it ..... fantastic, brutal, fast-paced, and a very thorough story that kept me gripped throughout!!! and it multiplies the bond character many times more than the other films do!!!

and it was MATHIS that got zapped ..... the git :D
recognised giancarlo giannini instantly ..... well, it wouldn't be difficult :p
 
I'm not convinced Mathis was involved, as it turned out it was Vesper. Mathis was a recurring friend of BonRAB in the original stories, so I'm not sure the writers would make such a change for him. It was left open for the sequel, like much of the film was.
