Casino Royale (2 disc) -

I saw the ad in the NOTW yesterday and made a bee-line for the local Asda near Canary Wharf, with orders from 4 other colleagues. Looked a bit odd at the till with 5 Casino Royales in hand - thought they were gonna restrict me to one per person, but no problems.

Had to laugh at the fair number of people queuing up to pay
 
The longer running time is simply the PAL/NTSC difference.

The R1 NTSC should be the same as the R3.

The UK version should also be uncut as in its the version that played in theatres worldwide.

Before the editing was completed the producers showed some scenes to the BBFC to guage the reaction and they were told the torture sequence was too strong for a 12 so it was edited before release.

As far as I am aware that is the same version thats played worldwide,there was no longer version.

Of course thats not to say those edits wont ever be added back in for a special edition with a higher certificate.
 
my local Asda sold all 670 copies they had today, so i had to go Sainsburys and pick a copy up for
 
Picked it up today at ASDA and watched tonight, picture was stunning upscaled on my panasonic DMR75 recorder, why no DTS soundtrack ??, though DD sounded good.
 
A correction to my own post:

It appears the R1 dvd is the precut PG13 version,the UK R2 is also a cut version but the R3 and R5 are both uncut.
As stated above the R3 is also exclusive in having the DTS track.

So it looks like the R3 was the right choice after all
 
All sold at Asda in our town by yesterday afternoon, had to get my copy from Sainsburys for an extra couple of quid, still cheap though can't complain. Hopefully these low price first week offers will become more and more common.
 
Last years re-release of th 007 movies in their "Ultimate Edition" incarnations was the first UK releases of Goldeneye ,Tomorrow Never Dies and Licence To Kill in their uncut versions.

Why spoil the set and get Casino Royale in a cut version?
 
Was just gonna post this. Seems a step backward when they finally released the films in their uncut format and gave them higher ratings.

The BBFC policy doesn't allow two versions of the same film to be on release at the same time with differing certificates, so an uncut CR will only ever be released as a 15 when CR has probably been out for a few years and the current DVD becomes OOP. (Might invest in the R3 version then. Where's it being sold for
