cash or debit card for a used car?

Most businesses these days charge a fee for using your debit or check card. They have to pay a fee to the banks and credit card companies for processing fees so I would either use a check, pay cash and make sure that you get a receipt for the purchase.
 
hi there is this car i am looking at buying and the dealer said they will be charged a 5% fee if i pay on my debit card so cash would be better....is this true? why would he not want me to pay on card? should i walk away or am i worrying over something normal?
i am in the UK
