I've just read the article on the yahoo homepage about the new Cash For Clunkers bill and it's very interesting.
I own a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, so I'm pretty sure it would qualify for this. My question is - is the $3500-$4500 that you'd get from the government an extra amount? Say a dealer would give me $3000 (hopefully it would be more than that) for my car, would I then get another $3500-4500 on top of what the dealer gives me?
I am interested in gettting a new car, it's just that my car is paid for so I really don't want a big car payment. So an extra $4000 on top of what a dealer would give me would really help!
Also, are there only going to be certain dealerships that will do this, or will it be mostly all car dealerships. Do you have to buy a brand new car or just newer?
So basically the dealer cannot resell your old car right? They must give it to salvage?
