Cartoons to Live Action: Your Thoughts?

I think it's because in cartoons and animation, there really is no limit. Live action, there's only so much you can do.

Let's take Sailor Moon for example:

In the animation, pretty much when Sailor Moon and the rest transform, they're nude and all. If you take that to live action, you can't really do that...unless if you attempt a CGI effect.

Dealing with hairstyles to match their counterparts, ESPECIALLY from an anime is also a bit trouble some. You can try to make it similar but it's not usually the same and if you do live action, they would always come out weird. So if you're doing Usagi's hair, you would either have to grow your hair very, very long or use hair extensions and wigs. Same thing if you try to do a hairstyle from Yu-Gi-Oh (especially Yugi's hairstyle). You'll need to either successfully attempt to make your hairstyle like your counterpart or get a wig because some hairstyles are impossible.

But I believe in the Sailor Moon live action series, they only used the hairstyles when they transform and not when they're their normal selves.

If anyone remerabers Alvin and the Chipmunks, they're making it in to a live action movie due out on Deceraber 14.

I really don't know. Obviously because I wasn't too fond when they made Garfield a live action movie.

My sister is a huge Sailor Moon fan and she hated the live action. I saw a couple minutes of it and yea, didn't like it either  Garfield wasn't too bad. Not as funny as the comic/cartoon. The only live action I can remeraber really enjoying were the X-men movies.

ETA - Oh yea, and Scooby Doo live action movie was good too. The first one, at least.

I haven't really watched too much of the Live Action of the Sailor Moon series. I just saw the episodes where Mercury becomes evil and stuff :P

I'll come back later to post/edit

Hey Kris! Cool discussion! ;)

I hated the live action Sailor Moon. That was a cartoon that should've remained a cartoon, you know?

It's always risky for cartoons to turn live action but some did well like... uh, just Transformers comes to mind right now. :D

Okay, we've seen this before. Cartoons making a jump/transition to Live Action series/movies involving real people. What's your thoughts?

I'm not really much a fan of jumps like that, especially when they did the likes of making Garfield not only a live-action movie but TWO Live Action films. (No offense to Bill Murray who did his best to do his best on Garfield since Lorenzo Music passed on).

Although some live actions like Sailor Moon transitioning to its own series, albeit a season's worth, are not too bad.

Yup, just like some other topics you see here, this thread was made from the Anime Appreciation thread  So I figured we could have a topic about it.
