Cartoon shorts at the end of episodes, Educational or Comedy?

Animated shows that have enough time to make 30 to 60 second shorts at their regular episodes, what type of shorts should they be?

Should it be educational like a lot cartoons in the 80's, or be comedy relief like they do on Bleach for example?

I prefer they use that for comedy relief, I love the Shinigami Golden Cup shorts, more shows should have those types of shorts. But ideally, what would be great is parody of those educational shorts, like character telling the audiance "You shouldn't learn about these things from a cartoon show".

I hate anything even close to education animation (although i don't hate the Magic Schoolbus or TimeWarp Trio because of their other qualities, which applies to some other semi educational cartoons)

So i would therefore pick 'comic relief' ones, although they don't have to be particularly funny to work well. Ruby Gloom does this nicely with a short BEFORE the opening sequence which has the same effect as Law and Order style preview segments, that is the main show does not start till after this segment, but the segment is unrelated to the overall show. So i think Ruby Gloom does this best. ChalkZone's song segment also works nicely i think.

I can recall that the syndicated series Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog aired "Sonic Says" segments near the close of each episode, which were indeed educational (or at least there was more to education than comedy). Sonic explained tips about safety, healthy eating, family issues, etc.

Yeah, like "Dont ride in Dryers, Trust a Sloth, and Dont call the Cops when people are trying to kill you" :)

yeah... I took that from Nostalgia Critic... :(
