Cartoon characters that aged over time

Most cartoon characters don't age. They stay at an unspecified age throughout a series. Every now and then there's a "baby" or "grown up" series with the character, but rarely will a character age in a gradual process. What characters can you think of that grew up in such a gradual way?

For me the first that comes to mind is Max Goof, Goofy's son from Goof Troop. In Goof Troop, a pair of Goofy movies and some other Disney series, we have seen Max grow from a child into a young adult in a semblance of real time. This is made fairly ironic if you consider that Goofy is the only character in the Disney Trio without a set girlfriend, but the only one with a child of his own.

Also the whole Dragonball cast. Through all the Dragonball series, we saw almost the whole life of a great many characters.

Bruce Wayne is always the first that comes to mind with me. It starts with him in his 30's, with flashbacks that range from him being 8 to early 20's, to his early 40s presumably from BTAS to JLU. All the way to him being the most badass 80 year old Ive ever seen in Batman Beyond.

So far, everybody has mentioned characters that have aged throughout several different shows, but does that really count? Are there many solitary shows where the characters have visibly aged throughout the course of it? I know there are a plethora of shows with birthday episodes, but I don?t think that they really count. I suppose King Of The Hill might, with how Joseph went through puberty and matured physically, but I?m not sure if that counts either.

Dragonball and Dragonball Z had quite a bit of aging which their characters. In both Goku and Gohan's case, you see them growing taller and eventually adulthood. Gohan's growth being more noticable imo.

Naruto does. (just not yet)

I am super mad how most cartoon characters don't seem to age.
Espicialy Ash (pokemon). Pokemon has been on air for 10 season, and he hasn't seems to age a bit. My best guess is that he ages 1/2 year after every season, but there is no physical proof of this.

The Futurama creators have stated that the characters "age" every year of the show they're in. It's just that since they're all around mid 20's (for the most part) it's hard to tell. And technically the South Park kids "aged" one year to get into 4th Grade (without changing they're physical appearence though) but that's all I can really think of without counting spinoff series. (Spinoff series wise Ben and Gwen of Ben 10 are going to age in the Ben 10 Spinoff next year "Hero Generation").

Fullmetal Alchemist.

Ed aged throughout the series and he is quite clearly older in the movie.

But it's not that evident.

Uh... I think it's hard because unless there's a Naruto-esque time skip, animated shows are rarely on long enough for the characters ages to be evident.

Probably a bit far-fetched, but the Futurama cast did indeed age noticeable in one episode were they become 14 year olds and the Professor becomes 50 or something. Of course at the end they're all reversed back their original age.

The Real Ghostbusters have become a bit older when they return in Extreme Ghostbusters.

And The Rugrats became teenagers in a spinoff show

Alfred J. Quack/Kwak of the serie by ther same name. The show starts with his birth, follow him as he looses his parents and siblings in a car accident, his turmulent childhood and through his life to the point where he moves out on his own and becomes an adult. His friends also aged as well.

It was a great show...sadly very little known... Great stuff in there...

Fruits Basket takes place over the course of several years.

I don't know Tezuka's works that well, but if I recall correctly, wasn't Kimba a coming-of-age story?

Animals of Farthing Wood: Several of the animal couples had children after they reached White Deer Park, and some of these children survived long enough to become teenagers.

If spinoffs count, the Flintstones has shown Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm as infants, grade schoolers, teenagers, and young adults with infants of their own.

If you want to count "Flintstone Kids", there's that too (as part of the "baby versions of adult characters" craze that's stretched to "Baby Looney Tunes")....

Spike and Carly from Transformers. Season 1 and 2 they where teens and in season 3 they are married with a son.

Supergirl was a teen in Superman TAS in JLU i think she at least turned 21.

Dick Grayson Batman TAS went from maybe 18,19 as Robin to at lest 21,22 as Nightwing in New Adventures and later 20s in his cameo in JLU.

Apu's kids were born and they somehow seem to be older then Maggie in Simpson.

The Scooby Doo gang in the mid 80 cartoons and 13 Ghost it was clear they made it inyo their 20s and in the Direct to Video Movies of the past few years and Whats New Scooby do they seem to be adults with careers.

In the TMNT ver 1 their sidekick Zack at least in one episode looks older in the CBS years.

We've seen the Digidestined in Adventure become teens in Digmon 02, and at the end of 02, we see everyone as adults.

We also saw the characters in Daria progress through high school to graduation.

Kim Possible. It does not look like it but they do age. Season one and half of season two was Sophomore year. From "Sitch in Time" to "So the Drama" was Junior year, and season four was Senor year. Oh course Kim Ron and the others did not grow much in those three years, with the exception of the Tweebs, who grew into mini versions of their father (Appearance wise) for the fourth season.
