i want to know if it would be leagal to carry a gun in california without ccw. Like go buy a gun and register it and everything but walk around with it outside of clothing not concealed like holstered on my waste with my shirt tucked in or behind it of were a sholder holster outside my cloths

No!

California is one of the backward states that does not have a shall issue concealed carry permit. Shall issue means that a permit must be issued to a private citizen unless they are a convicted felon.

California has a permit system that allows permits to be issued if the citizen can show cause. The cause is usually that the person is wealthy and politically connected. Being a contributor to the Sheriffs reelection fund does not hurt.

If you are just an ordinary citizen that wants to stay safe, you are up a creek. Personal protection is only for wealthy celebrities in California.

There is no open carry provision either.

Under California state law, open carry is perfectly legal.

BUT..... I do not know of any city, and only of a few counties, that do not have a local ordinance forbidding open carry.

If you want to go wandering around Humboldt or Placer County with a gun in a holster on your belt, go for it. Try it in Los Angeles or San Francisco counties, and you'll be in jail before you can say "Bonanza"

EDIT .....
Ignore "Hung H" he is wrong.
HERE.... http://www.californiaopencarry.org/CaliforniaOpenCarry.pdf is a list of the relevant laws.
