Careers helping people without emotional stress; guidance counselor?

I'd love to have a career helping people, but I know I cannot handle the emotional stress of helping someone with problems emotionally distressing, such as those a therapist or psychologist deals with because I have some of those myself, and am still learning to deal. (I'm only 16.) I've noticed a pattern in my life; if I can't be helping someone with their own issues or problems, I create problems for myself. While I know this is caused by some other underlying emotional issues, I still love helping people and want to do it as a career. I think I could be a guidance conselor, and I want to know if anyone recommneds any other careers and if I'm suited for that one.
