Carbon Fiber wheels or an Ohlin's suspension upgrade?

I am inclined to say the suspension, as you will have better options on set-up - particularly if you include the adjustable ride-height link.
Having said that - the 848 has the heavier option cast wheels, so the BSTs will have a real impact in comparison.
748's laptimes are obviously counter to this, but the impact of the lighter wheels (remembering that I think 748 is comparing BSTs with light forged wheels) is arguably greater on uneven road surfaces, as opposed to the smooth surface of a racetrack.
So do the suspension first, and keep saving for the wheels. Against the wheels is the fact you have to be a bit careful who you trust fitting tyres to them..
And as to suggesting wilks get the wheels - of course he already has the wheels, SBK forks, TTX etc.
He rode it to my place one day (not far admittedly) with slick tyres on it. Really had it set up for the shops!

If you don't go to the track shame on you!

....oops, Sorry. I'll start again:

If you don't go to the track then the standard suspension is fine for the road. Get the Wheels and you will look like the king of Manila.

I have both heavily modified suspension and lighter race wheels (Marvic magnesium, which weigh similar to the BSTs). From my experience (mostly on racetracks) improving the suspension gave far more benefit than the wheels. I'm sure the lighter wheels quicken the steering, but unless I'm a racer going at 10/10ths (i'm not) I honestly can't feel any great benefit.

I got the wheels 1st. BUT, I will say, a few hsr to a track is not bad. I wish one was that close for me. 8hrs to the nearest one for me.
If I were you(with I am not) I would spend all that $ on track time. Really! You have a cool bike, learn to haul ass on it now. Thats the coolest bling of all.

your not hittin the track do you really need any of that stuff? looks great but seriously why not get your current suspension set up even if you got the ttx and the R&T's your still gonna want to get it set up, and get yourself a nice set of forged rims, you could probably get all of that done plus extra upgrades.

thankyou for this input, I am glad that you told me this. It made me realize that it the cf whels is not the magic pill I am looking for.

hahaha , yes. I do not want to sound like a wuss but it takes me three hours to get to the track and when I get there, I am already tired. the excitement of doing a track day has diminished after three hourse of dodging traffic, pedestrians and hitting occasional potholes. But I do love to go tracks

My thoughts exactly, I read that the wheels of my 848 is the base model marchesini and it is quite heavy compared to other marchesini forged wheels. this makes deciding all the more difficult.

I have to admit that my stock 848 is much more than i can handle and that upgrading it will not be of much use to me. But I hope you understand that if you put an 848 beside an 1198s, the 1198s stands out and I beleive that its not because of the displacement which is stated in the side fairing but in my own mind, the gold ohlins suspension made it look cooler, maybe this is my opinion but those gold forks looks so good.
On the otherhand, a black 999 was filling up petrol. His 999 looks so different and I realized that the only accessory he had is the full termi's and carbon fiber wheels. The wheels made a huge impact, his 999 did not look like the late model.

well if its just for the look then go for it but thats a lot of money to be lets be serious now, posing if its really just for looks. i have the s suspension my 1098, i swapped them out last year from my track bike before i sold it. honestly no one around my town really knows or cares if you have gold forks or not. i also didnt notice the difference between my forged wheels and my cast ones, either, but my red carrozerria's do stand out quite a bit, and get noticed quite a bit especially by the wrong sort of people. cops!
