Hi i have a 1998 ford taurus SE and i just recently bought it. it was $1750 and has 154k miles
i wish i checked it out but it was the first car i bought so i jumped on it now im stuck with a few minor problems.
1. my automatic door locks are acting up, it almost seems like they don't know whats going on because ill hit lock, and if they are already locked they will just sit and try to lock it self tearing the actuator motors down along with running my battery all night, i actually had to jump start my car one morning so i took out the fuse which controls those now i have to do the door locks by hand,no automatic windows and no electric seat they are all part of that one fuse,i even tried to replace the fuse it did the same thing.
Heres what i think, i was missing one of my automatic door lock relay fuses when i looked, maybe its shorting out or something without that fuse, and maybe one of my other relays were broken. should i try replacing the 2 relays or is it my actuators?
2. i get like 13 mpg and i know i am a reckless teenage driver but even i know in this little car no matter how much i beat on my car i should be getting like 18+ minimum any tips for saving gas mileage somehow?
please help we really cant afford to have a mechanic look at it.
if i took it in you think it would be easy or cheap fix or would it cost alot and be a big electrical problem?
