I have a 1987 Ford Thunderbird and for being that old of a car it's still a pretty good car. Well a couple weeks ago we were out in the country driving along and all of a sudden it died and wouldn't start again. We tried off and on for about 15 mins or so and it wouldn't start. So we ended up getting a rid home and later that night we had it towed to our house. Hubby went out and was messing around with it and tried to start it and it did. We figured maybe the fuel pump or fuel filter was the problem. Well we tried to start it every day for a few days after that and it started every time. Hubby even drove it to work one day and didn't have any trouble with it. Well before I wanted to drive it again I wanted at least a fuel filter put on it so we did that a couple days ago. Well today on my way to work it did the same thing. Had to call hubby and have him come get me. When he got there he tried it and it wouldn't start then he loosened the gas cap and tried it and it started. He thinks it might be getting vapor locked but he doesn't really know that much about cars so I was wondering if anyone here would have any idea what it might be. It's a 6 cyl engine and we think it has throttle-body injectors. So anyone have any ideas what it might be??
