Car tire on my Road King

definition of ignorant...lacking education or knowledge. People posting with no experience whatsoever on the subject (car tire) obviously can`t grasp this definition as they are too busy showing us that they fit it. The beginning of the thread states that comments don`t carry weight unless you`ve tried it. But the ignorant have to jump over that fence and even fabricate scenarios like the reason you don`t hear anything bad is that the one`s who have bad to say are in hospitals. The gl1800 rider website has about 750 Darksiders and they have nothing but good to say about car tires on motorcycles. They have cummulitive miles that carry weight (in this discussion).
I know a crop duster in Texas that runs CT`s because he got tired of MT`s blowing out. He`s got over 200,000 miles on his goldwing.

It is truely amazing at the amount of anti C/T post this thread has attracted. For such knowledgable experts they don't even seem to be able to read the simple statement of "tried it".
I have read every entry in this thread and if I am not mistaken there are no negative comments by riders who have actually tried it. That should settle it in my opinion.

I would never put a car tire on my touring bike or any m/c. The compounds used on m/c tires are developed for grip and flexibility. I choose my bike tires based my personal research on the latest technologies available. For me, confidence on my tires is priceless.

If you ride between 4500-6000 rpms (70-90 mph) through the twistys Would you feel comftorable and planted with the car tire on the back?

Garcou,

This is old news. It has been debated to no end, all you have to do is read the different threads on this.

You would have a problem if you put a CT on a sport bike.

I have a crash sensor on my bike that will shut off the bike when the bike is tilted 45 degrees. Yes my bike is not a HD but is a Vulcan so sorry for the post but this is the bike from the video that I posted a couple of pages back.
The attached picture was taken going down Loveland Pass West over the summit. As you can see the floor board was dragged around the corner and I didn

Love these car tire threads. This pic does it for me. Look at the contact patch. Not gonna beat it to death anymore. But if someone had been all bad ass for months, even years about the car tire on their scoot, and then it caused problems, I don't think they would admit it. The lack of ANY problems being posted tells me that they are hiding them. Given how many have tried, I am sure there have been issues. Maybe not failures, but issues.

But that's just me. Carry on.

Bike tyres are designed to increase the contact patch when leaning, not reduce it! But I guess the topic will pop up again, with us unbelievers being slagged off because we haven't tried it. Yawn....
