Car tire on my Road King

I googled "Riding on the dark side" I read a lot of posts, and info, I can't find any evidence of problems with this at all, sounds like a good deal to me, I wish there was a car tire that would fit on my 99 RKC.

How is the gas mileage with the CT? It would seem that a larger contact patch would equate to higher rolling friction?

I'm interested for sure, but that third video just didn't look good to me. Car tires are supposed to flex in the sidewalls in turns, leaving the tread area mostly on the pavement and not rolling up onto the corner.

But anyway, this topic may be moot for me, with my "antique" '05 model. It's still a fascinating alternative and I applaud you for stepping into new territory.

And, thank you for your service!!

Terry, there may be one that fits. Look in this database, somebody may have a rim similar to yours:
http://darkside.nwff.info/database.php

Or use this calculator:
http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi to find the dimensions of yours. then look in place like TireRack.com at a popular tire that comes in a variety of sizes, choose a tire and click on "specs" and see what may fit
your rim.

Regards,

I have a small Radio Shack unit. This one and a manual truck gage gave identical pressures, and my inflator gage is the one that was off. Now I am looking for a better inflator gage for my compressor.

As a Harley owner for almost 40 years I can understand owners wanting to dump their stock tyres. They have never been good. My first Harley came on Goodyears which are the worst tyres I ever rode on. What I find remarkable is that in condemning stock Dunlops some of you consider fitting a CAR tyre? Instead of a better bike tyre? There are good reasons why tyre companies make tyres for cars and tyres for bikes, but they seem to have passed some of you by!

have something to say about this. Whether it isn't safe or not, the carrier would probably void your insurance in the event of an accident. When I see bike manufacturers installing car tires, then maybe.
Having said that, a set of all season radials would probably work well up here.

Subscribed...got a RKC that will need new skins this year. A little surprising to learn that m/c tires had HARDER rubber compound than car tires...then why don't they last longer?
