I have an 06 HHR LT standard system.

This is my first stereo install and I just want too do it right with the lease amount of headache as possible. Yesterday, I removed the stock radio and installed my new door speakers. I have yet to install my new HU. It sits in the box as I wait for a harness from crutchfield.

I’m not going for the best of the best here. Just a simple system that should sound better. The stock system sounds good. However, I want to rock. So I need to know where is the best place is for the ground wire and is a always on connection “Yellow wire” strait to the battery or can I find a always on 12v connection up front somewhere?

I have the stock HU removed as I wait to install my new HU. One thing is with my HU removed and the harness not connected to anything. My car remote for the doors and starter does not work… Will it work after it’s all hooked up again or will I need to go to the dealer to have something reset?

My System
Sony CDXGT920U
Sony HD Radio tuner
4 infinity reference 6012i
1 infinity Bass link sub

Harness
PAC's C2R-GM11

Any install tips would be appreciated.

Ok Steps

#1 Find A Place to Ground your Ground Wire
( usually if you pull the carpet back in your trunk you will find something to bolt it To)

Make Sure IT is a non painted surface for The Best Grounding Possible

#2 You will Need To run your REM From Your Deck Back To the Amp This wire is Blue

#3 You Will Need To Run Your audio wires back To The amp Make Sure You run them back on the Passenger Side hence if it is To Close to Your (12v yellow Wire) You Will Get A humming When you rev or even run your engine

#4 You Need To Run Your 12V yellow wire from the positive terminal on your Batt back to the Amp

If You Have To Do IT In That Order Because You do Not Want Any Power Going to Your Amp Before It Has A Ground

Make Sure The Fuse in Your Line Is Smaller Then In Your amp that Way If Something blows it Will Blow The Fuse In Your Line hence Leaving your amp unharmed

MAKE Sure Every Thing Is TIGHT

And I Am Not Sure About the Starter Problem But I Think It Has Something To Do With The remote Antenna Wire Being Disconnecteded So I Have To Say yes it should Work when you hook it up again but not 100% on that

Happy Wiring
