car speakers quit, but only certain speakers not all of them?

i bought after market speakers, high quality infinity... because i suspect that the front car door speaker had been blown... at all levels, it distorted horribly, but only that single speaker. so i replaced it with the before mentioned brand... still at any kind of high volume the speaker distorts heavily... the wires are not touching, and are perfectly secured down... i need help with finding out whats causing it... it makes the sound system sound off
