Car seat battles (20 characters...)?

Elyse is 17 months. She has never had a problem with getting in the car seat except when she learned to stand - had to stand up in the car seat, LOL. She quickly grew out of that phase and loves going 'bye bye'. Now, in the past week or so every single time we need to get in the seat it is a battle. She arches, twists, screams and refuses to get in. There is no way to just 'force' her in either as I would likely hurt her in the process. So we just take a breather and try again, and again, and again... Yesterday it took 20 minutes to get her in the seat to go to the mall! My husband has even been stranded out and about because she refuses to get in the seat to go home. This too shall pass or any suggestions??? We've tried giving her a toy to distract and that no longer works.

Thanks!
Eisley's Mommy - I promise, there is no way to 'force' a toddler to sit in her seat if she doesn't want to. She is very strong and if I were to force her body into position I would surely break an arm or leg. I agree that parents need to win some battles but some need to be won together. I am looking for ways for both of us to be happy getting in the seat...

I suggest making it very clear that YOU and your husband are the parents...there were NO days I would have been "stranded" waiting for a 17 month old to DECIDE to get in her car seat...she would do it when I told her to or face the consequences,,,she would have TWO chances then her bottom would be warmed up, BE the parent.
