I took my 2001 Nissan Sentra (paid in full no warranty) into the dealership because the check engine light was on and it did not want to get speeds greater than 35 MPH. I had taken it to another repair shop and they could not diagnose the problem and suggested I take it to Nissan. The dealership said that it was a sensor so I paid to replace it. Then they called me and told me it was the computer. I didn't have the money so I went and picked it up. Meanwhile, I let another mechanic I know look at it and he did many routine fixes, changing the spark plugs, oil, replacing some other sensors. He took apart many things and confirmed that they were in working order before I decided to go ahead and fix the expensive computer. Since all of this didn't fix the problem and we couldn't find anything else wrong with it, I took it back to have the computer replaced. From what I was told by more than one source, the only place I can get the computer replaced is the dealership because it has to be "flashed". So I took the car back to the dealership to have the computer replaced. They replaced the computer and called me again stating that now the car is stalling and they're saying I need a "Mass Air Flow Sensor". The car was not stalling before, it was only driving slow. The other mechanic had checked the Mass Air flow sensor last week and stated that it was working fine. I think they broke it on purpose to milk me out of more money. I've now checked with BBB on this same dealership and they have an "F" rating. I've asked for my computer back because I am thinking that nothing was wrong with it to begin with and they're refusing. They required me to prepay for the computer because it was a "special order". Are they wrong? Can I sue? I want my money back AND my car fixed
