basically, I have a 2003 (?) Honda Accord. It has a stereo system that came with the car that includes radio, CD, and cassette.
A few months back, the stereo started to periodically not work. It would either just randomly shut off or would sart to do this screeching thing. Usually, I would turn it off and back on again and it would be fine. However, as the months went on, it would slowly get worse so there was more time when it wouldn't work and I usually couldn't get it to work again by turning it back on. Then, almost every time I turned it on, I would just get screeching noises, and now, I haven't gotten any noise out of it in weeks.
I got it checked out, but the place said it would cost a few hundred to replace it. I dpn't really know much about cars, but I have a hunch that it is simply a problem with the wiring. I really want some music in the car but would rather not have to pay hundreds of dollars for it, especially if I am being ripped off. What do you think? Does it sound like it would just need a quick wiring fix, or a different cheep fix, or would I actually have to replace the whole thing and pay hundreds?
Just thought I'd add, its not the kind of radio that can be taken out. Or, at the very least, I don't know how to take it out.
If it helps, it looks like this:
