Car question. how much would it cost to rebuild a toyota tercel 1991 engine?

I just bought a a used toyota tercel 1991 and it seems fine for now but I have the feeling some time that it might break. I do like the gas mileage and the engines are some what cheap to buy , I just think it might be cheaper to rebuild my engine I have now ,and maybe clean up every thing including the trans.. can't find these answeres to much on the web
 
You need to specify exactly what needs to be done as a part of the rebuild. A complete rebuild including machine shop work to true the cylinders, new crankshaft and bearings, true the heads and a valve job could easily cost more than $1,000. A simple ring job could be done for less than $100 in parts.
