Car problem! I have a 2002 Ford Escape with an acceleration and braking problem?

I have a 2002 Ford Escape Jeep recently I was on the parkway and I tried to accelerate. My engine got really loud and my rpm went up to about 2 or 3 when it was only going 20 -30 mph! It had SO much difficulty accelerating and whats WORSE is that when I pressed down on my brakes they wouldn't go down all of the way, so I couldn't completely stop. Thankfully, I could slow down but they wouldn't go down all of the way.

Help!
