legal options do I have? I live in a unit and on several occasions, people have parked their car in front of my garage. That means that I am unable to even open my garage! It's very annoying as I cannot access my car to honk out loud, so I have to go knocking and screaming on each unit just to find out who parked their car there (there's like 50 units in the complex). It's very annoying because sometimes I have a doctor's appointment etc. I live in NSW - Australia.
I've asked the police in general and the police I spoke to didn't seem to know the answer and he said that they don't normally deal matters pf that nature, only criminal. I've asked a tow man in general and he just told me to call the police. The Department of Fair Trading said that they don't deal with it and it's a matter that Strata deals with. I've called Strata and they said that they just issue a notice and then apply to the Department of Fair Trading to enforce a fine.
It's such a lenghty process and all I want is for the car to be moved at that point in time! Does anyone know what legal rights I have? Can I actually call to have the car towed away at the car owner's expense? I heard that they can sue me if the car is damaged in any way through the towing process.
Please advise.
