Car keys won't fit into the ignition of a 1992 lincoln town car?

I need help diagnosing this problem. The switch moves around even after i pull the keys out and I can't get the keys to fit in it anymore. Does this have anything to do with the ignition lock column or the ignition switch? I'm no good with vehicles so any help would be great.
It won't go in even if I have to look inside the switch itself.
