Hey alI,
I know that people have probably asked before on paint chipping on the hood, but i just want to clarify for my own sake and situation. Thanks
So, I just bought a car about a month and a half ago. Its a 2002 Toyota Camry v6 SE model and runs really nice. I am sixteen and proud of the fact that I bought it with my own money. But with putting most of my paper route money into the car, I want to keep the repairs, etc. to a minimum and spend the money on gas for it. So as I was washing my car today, I noticed a ton of paint chips on my hood (and just my hood alone). Now when i purchased the car a month and a half ago, there were no paint chips on the hood and the whole car looked beautiful. Now the shine of the black car does not look so vibrant.
I dont mind fixing the chips on the hood if there is some inexpensive way to do it, but again, im trying to conserve money. Is there anything that I can get that will repair them like new, or do I have to get a new paint job on the hood?
But, my main question is how did the paint chips begin appearing on the car? As they were not there before and there were just over 100,000 miles on the car, it seems like something I did was the cause of it.
I dont think it would be the freeway driving that I do, because im pretty sure there were some freeway miles on the car when i bought it. My only guess is the fact that I play music at a decently high level... Now I never blast the music, but it is always fairly loud. And I dont listen to soft kind of stuff, its more like Rise Against, All That Remains, etc.
Could this be the reason for the paint chipping or is there some other reason?
Thanks a bunch for hopefully saving me some gas money!
Nathan
p.s. The chips are not tears in the paint, it seemed to go down a bit further then just the paint alone.. (maybe rocks on the freeway?)
but thanks again!
