Car help............?

Drove through a big puddle earlier tonight and the car started to slow down. I drove on with my foot down in 1st gear and there was no power at all. Then i got "air pollution fault" and the engine management light came on so I stopped. Popped the bonnet and had a look around, took the air filter out and it was soaked. What could be wrong with the car? And what could i do to fix it? Thanks
