Car is shaking, what could it be?
Okay so my car shakes on the passengers side when I drive (does not shake when idle). It's a rather vigorous shakes on that side. The steering wheel also shakes and pulls to the passangers side. I just had brakes and rotors done a month ago and also had tires put on in September. I have no idea what this could be, some people are saying I need an alignment or a tire balance. Any insight on what this could be??

This is a 2001 Acura TL, 160,000 miles and just had the transmission replaced a year ago

tires or wheels most likey if just driving it could be cv joint bad not many time wil alignment make a car shake most of tiem id say tires need rebalance or check for a bad one if it pulls id have the alignment check or brakes check

I'm betting one of the weights fell off of your right front tire and now it's not balanced. Out of balance tires are the most common cause for weird shakes and vibration at speed. It could also be warped brake rotor or out of alignment.

The easiest way to check if it's the brake rotor is by brake pedal feel. When you come to a stop does it feel like you're moving the brake pedal a little, as in, does the car stop a little more and then a little less until it comes to a complete stop? Can you move your foot with the feeling and make it stop smoothly? If so, it's a warped brake rotor.

For alignment, turn the wheel all the way to one side and look at the tread on the front tires, if it's out of alignment you will see uneven tread wear on one side of the tire, either the inside or the outside. The tread wear will have what's called a feathered pattern, meaning as you go around the edge of the tire it's worn a lot, and then not as much and then a lot again and then not as much . . . If you don't see this pattern or strange tread wear then it's not alignment.

Bad CV joint isn't likely with what you've described but the most common symptom is a knocking sound as you make a turn in a parking lot.

it could be an alignment but it might be a number of things your universal joints ball joints maybe warpes rim. id take it to a garage and ask they guys there if there is anything they kno about it. Thank you
