Car help!!! Rotational thumping noise and car shakes violently?

I have a 2006 suzuki forenza sedan. Two weeks ago while on my way to work I was going about 60mph and slowly my car began to shake more and more. Eventually it got so bad, that my hands were moving back and forth on the steering wheel atleast 1/2-1 inch. I thought my car was going to fall apart. On my way back home the car still shook but not nearly as bad.

After that the car seemed ok for a few days, but now everyday on my way to school my car acts up again, and it seems to happen around the same area everytime (right after a hill and stoplight). The car will be fine for the first 5-10 minutes, but then out of nowhere it will begin to shake moderatley to severly. The last few times I have heard a rotational thumping sound coming from the front of the car, and my floor and steering wheel was shaking (my passenger felt the car shaking too). When this started the car also felt like it began to loose power and the rpms shot up a bit (I was only going around 35-40mph here).

I got my tires balanced thinking that could be an issue, but it didn't help at all. I was thinking maybe a bent rim, bad tie rod, axle, ball/wheel bearings, etc could be the issue...but this rotational thumping sound has me scared. Could it be the engine or transmission...I hope not.

Additional details: Shaking feels like it is coming from underneath the driver seat/front of the car, no steering issues or breaking problems. Seems to sometimes happen after the car has to "work" a bit, like after going up a hill or a quick acceleration...

I will take it to a shop soon...but in your opinion what do you think the problem is?

P.S I just got back from school and on the way home I had no issues, but on my way to school it shook violently and made the thumping sound.

thanks very much!

That's would be extremely difficult, if not impossible to diagnose over the internet but I will say, that if you continue to drive, back and forth from school or work, the car will get you it's diagnosis because whatever is causing this is most likely damaging parts that will eventually give out.
Let's just hope it doesn't give out while you're doing sixty, at least not on a crowded highway.

Take it to a shop.
