Sounds like you have some problem with the front end. There are several parts here to look at. The CV axle is a common part that goes bad although you would have a clicking noise when you turn. Then there is the ball joint which might be worn or your lower control arm bushings. If the noise is when you hit a bump on the road then you might have a problem with your strut or upper strut mount. I suggest you take it to a reputable shop in your area and have them do an estimate and show you the parts that are bad. For the CV axle and labor it should run between $150-$200 this should cover parts and labor.
