Car help, I have an a crappy car and it is used to get to and from work but...?

now when i shift gears (automatic) to drive they are all off by one. When it is in reverse I am still in park, when it is neutal then I can revearse and when I am in drive then I am in neutral. Is this a big issue, will it cost a lot of money to fix??
