Can you get your hands on a wrecked or blown out one (parts car) with the standard transmission in it? Then you will have all the stuff right in front of you!, All the different brackets and linkages will be there, -- and of course you will also have the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate too! ... If pressure plate, clutch and flywheel look good, -- I would still put in a new throwout bearing! And of course it that one has the B20 engine too everything will be right for swap! The standard car also has a different shifter console inside too, -- which you will have with parts car! Oh one other thing clutch pedal and linkage will have to be installed, all brackets etc are built in car, just probably have to pull out the shaft and put through pedal pivot bearing, and pop plug out of floor for cable (or hydraulic line & stuff)!
When you get all done, you can probably sell a lot of parts to get some of your money back, -- especially if the automatic trans is still good!
If you have mechanical aptitude, you can do the work pretty cheap! Otherwise it is going to depend on what labor rate is, -- the swap under hood is going to be about 1 hour longer than r&r of automatic transmission, --- but remember that it is going to take about 50% more time to pull one from other car too! The console etc inside car is not real hard, - if you have any aptitude at all!
You know that the car is same basic vehicle when made, -- just different stuff and some holes plugged to make difference between automatic, and standard!
I did this with lots of Mercedes cars many years ago (70s), after the automatics died! -- With a parts car, I could save them about $300 over the cost of rebuilding the automatic, -- and it made a much better car too! At that time I was buying wrecked burned and trashed ones for about $100, and selling about $300 worth of parts off each one! "Core" on automatic was about $65 then too, so my investment in cars was minimal!
