- Illegal? I was towed for "illegal" (although disputable) parking in my own spot (assigned parking - I pay for this particular spot) I pay for at my apartment complex although apparently the car I parked there had the wrong sticker and was towed. The security guard noticed the wrong sticker, called the tow company whom came out, jimmied the lock to unlock it, put down the brake and gearbox into neutral (the car is a 5 speed manual gearbox and since the emergency brake was on AND the gearbox in 1st gear, the car would have been "untowable").
The police were NOT called out to the scene to OK the unlocking of the vehicle. Isn't this illegal (I am in California) as they had no permission in breaking into my vehicle!
