Car gives a motor sound?

I have a 2005 corolla and it gives me this motor sound while im driving, while im pressing on the gas petal. It works fine when I start the car and driving for a good 10 mins den all of sudden it gives me this motor sound and starts driving slow and then when I press on the brake, the sound is much more louder. What do you think the prob is? I had to pull over 2 times because I got scared and didn't want my car to blow up on me. I just notice the problem yesterday.
