Im not 100 % certain but was fords EEC-IV one of the most advanced automotive computers at the time when it was introduced in late 1983 for the 84 model year? According to my research in 1985 EEC was the only one which was advanced enough to compensate for the changes that took place in the engine due to wear and tear, GM and Chrysler were still carbureated in the early 80's.
