i have never attempted to use my car's cigarette lighter before. i was trying to use it to charge my ipod when i discovered that theres a piece of metal with a screw in the middle blocking the bottom of my lighter socket causing my ipod charger to not reach the bottom of the socket and therefore not work. is there a reason this gadget is in my lighter socket? can i simply turn my car off and unscrew the little devil or will this somehow damage my car (i drive a 2005 Kia Spectra5 ). i have also noticed that the actual lighter (the piece that is supposed to get very hot) is supposed to click into place when you push it in but mine just bounces back out.
