Car burning oil, replaced pcv valve and still burning oil...?

What would be the next thing to check? Can I get away with keeping the car and putting oil in as needed or should I sell it? My feedback from everyone I know is that it is probably going to cost more to fix than the car is worth. It's a 2000 dodge neon, manual transmission with 80,000 miles and besides this problem, the car is in excellent condition.
