I cant understand using the power supply from computer. i do have a spare power supply from old gateway computer from like 8 years ago. i only want to power something like 300/400 watts maybe off alpine m-350 to like a kicker cvr since i have spare one. how would i go about wiring this? and is that power supply sufficient? also is there an easier way to do this? maybe like home Receiver, (i know nothing about home audio so please go in depth if you recommend this)
thank you very much
i currently have logitech x-2300 so im looking for alot more "punch"

Ok, so you want to power a sub using an Alpine car amplifier? First thing is that the car amplifier runs off of DC power. It requires much more current than voltage. Meaning a simple 12V power supply commonly used for most small devices will not be enough to power your amp. Second thing is that having 300 to 400 watts of pure bass in your home will be ridiculously loud. Not only will you not need half of that power to get a great bass sound and feel in your home, but you will not be able to hear anything else but your bass when using the full power of your sub. The easiest way to connect a sub in your home is to either buy a cheap receiver with good power and connect your sub and speakers to it. Though in your case it might be better for you to purchase a simple 2.1 computer stereo system with around 40 or 50 watts total power. May not seem like much or any where near enough but trust me it will have more punch than you think.
