car amp channel help?

i'm looking into getting a sound system for my car and i am confused about the watts an amp needs i'm looking into hooking 2 subs up each with 400 rms and 4 ohms for a total of 800 rms and the amp has peak power of 1250 watts enough for them i thought but then i found out about channels and the continuous watts of the 2 channels is 220x2 with 4 ohms so my question is. is the amp big enough or would each sub only get 220 watts? thanks
