car alarm boomerang alpha 2000 2 way?

Hi i brought a car and have no idea how to use this alarm system. It has 2 remotes one complicated 1 easy basic remote. WHen i start the car i noticed the reciever on the visor has a red dot lights up, but when i stop car that goes?, Also under bonnet is black small thing where u can put key in it , i gather that is to turn sound of and on? it has no cables to it so is it battery operated is that the siren?? if it has no cables to how does it work?, anyhow i cant hear any beeps when i hit A on the alarm do i need to activate this thing first? anyone familiar with this model alarm thanks.. I also dont want the Auto ENgine start function that freaks me out cheers
