Does anyone else have the following problem?

I have bell expressVU with all channels, a 9200 HDPVR and live in BC. When I go to channel 852(SN-HD2) for the Canuck vs Oilers game tonight (march 20th), it tells me it is blacked out for the Pacific region but is available for west region in HD (pacific users go to non HD for the game!). If you look at sportsnet's webpages (below), you will see that the Canucks are supposed to be in HD and the Oilers are not? I have confirmed so far that Shaw and starchoice are not being blacked out yet Bell claims it is Sportsnet who are sending the blackout tags and Bell does nothing be re-broadcast the feed?

Comments?

I live in Alberta and I show the same thing; available to us and not to the Pacific region.

Thanks for the info.

Looks like you guys got lucky and are getting an HD game that we are supposed to get ;-) Darn Bell!!! Oh well, I guess Im heading over to my buddies house who has Shaw :-)

I just checked and as of 4:45 central time it is available to the BC region. I thought I was going to luck out here in Maniotba, I guess not.

I emailed Sportsnet regarding this very issue this morning and they promptly replied back that Bell got it backwards and it will be HD on SNETP and SD on SNETW. GO CANUCKS GO! Nothing better than a win in HD...

Really? Wow, they must have just changed it? I have been emailing Sportsnet and Bell all day and didnt expect any changes. Good to know. I'll check when I get home ;-)

You would think, since the game is being shot in HD, they could have it in HD for both Pacific and West regions? They would just have to put the other feed on SN-HD3, no? I guess I wont complain since we now get the game in HD ;-)

I wonder if it was a sportsnet mixup (Bell says sportsnet were sending the wrong blackout tags) or bell mixup (sportsnet says it was bell putting on the wrong blackout tags)? Does anyone know the real answer?

Different people do the games for each Sportsnet region. You would think that they would allow fans in both regions to at least get access to the HD game. But some fans might get upset at the bias shown by the Canuck broadcasters and vice versa.

I see your point.

Couldnt they share the same HD video and just have different Play by Play and colour people?

The problem with using two pbp teams with one production truck is only team gets to call replays. Ferraro was on TEAM 1040 describing the problem that if Quinn and he were "backbench", Garrett would pick the replays and they would likely be different than the ones he would want to talk about.

Quinn and Ferraro are more than capable of calling a neutral game, as is Jim Hughson. Give Hughie and Garrett the night off and use on pbp team. Problem solved. If Ferraro knows he's on in both regions, he'll certainly call the appropriate replays. Quite frankly, if you're the region that doesn't have the HD coverage, this approach is pointlessly aggravating.

as per the guide, the game was available in west region, not pacific region.
(i'm a center ice subscriber, and i live in Calgary).

soooo instead of using one of the NHLH# channels (866-869) i set my pvr to record on 854 or whatever the SNETHD channel is, and thats fine.

then i rush home after work, not listening to the radio/looking at any TV's, etc, so i can come home and watch the canucks beat the oilers.

It's not in my recordings list. Wtf? Argh. So i look at my timers, and sure enough, its there, and it's crossed out, and says "blacked out in your area."

stupid bell. if they'd have gotten it right, i'da at least gotten the game.

and now it's like a week later and they haven't won since. ugh.

I had a some stange things coming up on my set te last few games - anyone else? No audio. Then no video. SD instead of HD
