I just upgraded from a Sony Clie to a T5, and the new email software is driving me nuts. The reason I upgraded was that my Clie would ONLY sync my email -- it wouldn't sync my contacts or calendar. Now, my T5 does just fine with my contacts and calendar (and is generally a better PDA)... but I cannot get it to sync with my Outlook email.
I am on a corporate Outlook 2003 installation, but the old Palm Mail client didn't have any trouble with this. I've read all the help documents I can find, but it's obvious that I'm still missing something critical.
So here's what my Hotsync Log says:
- The account Outlook has been configured as an IMAP client on either the desktop or the handheld, but not on both. This mis-configuration cannot continue through the HotSync operation.
VersaMail - None of the accounts are configured for HotSync. Use the conduit to configure accounts to HotSync.
Here's how I have my Palm T5's Versamail set up:
Account Name: Outlook
Mail Service: Other
Protocol: IMAP
Synchronize Only Account is checked
On the next page, my Username is the one that I found when I looked in the "MAIL" setup (under Settings in Microsoft Windows), and I used my current password.
On the next page, I used my corporate email address, and then the Microsoft Exchange server address for both the incoming and outgoing mail server.
On my PC, I have Versamail set up to "Synchronize Active Accounts." I also checked "set selection as default."
On the next setup screen, the Mail Client is set to Microsoft Exchange 5.0 or higher, the Mail Profile is set to Not Selected, and the password is entered.
I have the same Microsoft Exchange servers entered on the Handheld settings tab.
What am I doing wrong? I don't understand why this has to be so hard -- everything else installed very easily (and the old Mail application used to be SO reliable!).
