Can't see yahoo chat?

I can log into yahoo chat from my email, as there is a button/menu next to my email address. I dont actually use it but I would like to. However my friend doesnt have this option and doesnt seem to know how to - I cant remember how I got mine there or if was always there. Cant chat to them because of this!! cheers
