cant roam?

[curious rose]

iv been readin other threads about roaming on cingular/att network. why cant i roam ? my gf has att and when i search for network it finds ATT when i go to select it, it just says network selected... only emergency is available. my phone is unlocked, so i dunno why it wont select it? any help?

you can only roam when you can't find a TMO tower. You can't pick and choose what tower/network you use.

Hence why it's called roaming

I know, but when I don't have a tmo signal and I have a att signal it doesn't switch over it just says att at the top and I can't make calls or browse the web

ya what he said... for example my gf lives in a dead spot for tmobile, but she has cingular reception thats why she went with cingular over tmobile. if i manual search it shows att but i cannot select it, it says only emergency calls only. it dont show tmobile when i search at her house... i understand u cant pick what u want when u have both tmobile and cing/att network if u do a manual search, i just thought that it would auto switch to the att towers if u dont have tmobile tower. if its suppose to do that... my phone dont do that, and im wondering y ? is there something i have to do to?
