cant pee after sex, is it THAT important?

is it really THAT important to pee after sex?? i can never seem to pee right after.. my sister told me that you get bladder infections but in reality does everyone pee??
if i pee an hour later will it make a difference and is washing with soap and water effective in preventing a UTI?
 
People say to pee because it flushes bacteria out of that area. But really, it's not like the penis is inserted into your urethra. And you can't help it if you don't HAVE to pee (even though it is common to have to after sex). I wouldn't worry too much.
