cant get in the army rightnow?

hello, im trying to get in the army. Everything looks good, I passed the practice asvab at the rercuiters with a 74. I take the real test at meps tomarrow but my recruiter said that I wont be able to enlist because the army isnt letting people with ged's in rightnow.I have a diploma but because i didnt get it at a regular highschool its worthless. he still wants me to take the asvab anyway, He also said that they might start letting people in again in my position in october. Has anyone been in my position or know anyone who is or has? how long will i have to wait?...thanks
